Ingredients
  

Hot Chocolate Base

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 13.5 oz can coconut milk (regular or light)
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (or maple syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan and whisk to combine.
  • Heat over medium-high, whisking until chocolate chips are fully melted.
  • Continue heating until the hot chocolate reaches your preferred temperature, then serve.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.

Notes

Use unsweetened almond milk to control sweetness. Regular or light coconut milk both work well. For dairy-free chocolate chips, try Enjoy Life or Tollhouse Simply Delicious. Add 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract for a peppermint variation.
