The Beef & Sauce
- 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 0.25 cup brown sugar, packed
- 0.25 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
- 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and minced garlic, breaking the meat into crumbles. Allow it to sear undisturbed for 45–60 seconds, then cook until fully browned.
In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves.
Pour the sauce over the cooked beef. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 2–3 minutes, letting the mixture bubble and thicken into a glossy glaze.
